One of the main issues in Sundrawoti is sanitation and cleanliness. We work hard on educating both the Mothers and children about washing their hands, bodies and brushing their teeth.
Two days after our arrival the entire lower village (Tallgau) decided to go out and clean the village from garbage- a sanitation activity. All children and mothers gathered at the center of the town and began picking up all the garbage together. The reason for the garbage is that all the kids in all of Nepal throw their garbage on the floor right after they finish eating.
The activity was amazing, the children learned to clean up the plastic and at the end all the garbage was burned in one large pile (unfortunately there is no way to get rid of garbage at Sundrawoti. Later on we taught all the children to clean their hands well. Many of them took the game much further and started scrubing their feet as well with rocks. Thank good for sanitation day. I am looking forward for it in the upper village as well (BichGau).
